Instructions for Windows Users:
Download the appropriate driver to your local computer. Right-click on the downloaded zip file and select "Extract all" from the menu. 1. Go to your Control Panel and in the small (or large) icon view, select "Devices and Printers". 2. Click on "Add Printer" and click on the hyperlink that reads "the printer that I want isn't listed". 3. At the next window, select the option "add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname". At the line which says "Host name or IP address" type in the IP address of the printer you want.
* If you are using Windows 10, and you have the option "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" Windows 10 will select an appropriate driver after you click next. If you don't, after clicking Next, you may see the "additional port information needed" window. Select "Generic Network Card" and click Next. 4. At the "Install Printer Driver" window, click on the "Have Disk" button and navigate to where you extracted the files from the step above. 5. Once you see the name of the copier you want to install, click next. At the next window, make sure to click on the "Do not share this printer" option to avoid from others printing to that printer through your computer. 6. At the last window, you can select to make this printer your default printer or not and then click "Finish". |
Important message to Mac users
Please download the appropriate driver above prior to installing the copier you intend to install on your computer. If you install without the driver, your computer will use a generic driver for the copier. Although you will be able to print with this driver, you may not be able to use specific options, such as printing on both sides of one sheet (aka duplexing), or choosing a specific tray. Instructions for Mac Users:
Download the appropriate driver that matches your OS (Operating System) To find out your Macintosh OS, Click on the Blue Apple. The blue apple is located in the upper-left hand corner of the screen. Click on About This Mac. On the Window that pops up, you will be provided with the OS and its version. 1. From the Apple menu choose System Preferences. 2. From the View menu choose Printers & Scanners. 3. If the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the System Preferences window is locked, click it and enter an administrator name and password to unlock it. 4. Click the Add printer (+) icon at the bottom of the Printers pane to open the Add Printer window. 5. If the printer appears when the Default icon is selected, select it and skip to step 9. 6. If the printer does not appear with the Default icon selected, click the IP button on the toolbar. 7. Select Line Printer Daemon. 8. Click the Address field and enter the IP address of your printer.
When your Mac communicates with your IP-capable printer the message "Valid and complete address" appears below the Address field. If the message "Invalid or incomplete address" appears, make sure the IP address is properly entered and that it is the IP address configured on the printer. Next, your Mac establishes an IP connection to your printer and displays "Gathering printer information…". It then selects the associated printer driver in the Print Using menu. If your Mac is able to communicate with the printer, but it is not able to automatically determine the print driver needed, choose the option "Select Printer Software…" from the Print Using pop-up menu in the Add Printer window. Enter your printer model in the search field to quickly find the appropriate driver. If the model of printer is not listed, you can point to the file you downloaded from the above step. You can also try the "Generic PostScript" or "PCL Laser printer" driver options. Generic printer drivers may not let you access all the features of your printer. 9. Once your Mac finishes communicating with the printer, click Add to create your printer queue. |
